49ers-Chiefs 2024 Super Bowl LVIII odds: 49ers open as favorites

The defending champion Kansas City Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

When it comes to the odds, the 49ers opened as 3-point favorites over the Chiefs. That number moved quickly, as San Francisco is currently between a 1.5-point to 2-point favorite at multiple sportsbooks.

The third-seeded Chiefs advanced by upsetting the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens 17-10 in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Then, on Sunday night, the top-seeded 49ers rallied to beat the Detroit Lions 34-31 in the NFC Championship Game.

The Super Bowl will be a rematch of Super Bowl LIV, which Kansas City won 31-20.

Here's a look at the early odds for the Big Game.

The Chiefs are seeking their fourth Super Bowl title overall and third in the last five years, while the 49ers are seeking their sixth Super Bowl title and first since Super Bowl XXIX.

San Francisco will also seek to avenge its loss to Kansas City in Super Bowl LIV, and on Monday's edition of Undisputed, Hall of Famer Michael Irvin said that this version of the 49ers — with Brock Purdy at the helm — is more equipped to beat the Chiefs.

"What you saw Brock Purdy do [Sunday] — that went way beyond game management. It was great decision-making, and I believe this game will be different. Right now, I'm leaning toward the 49ers winning this Super Bowl because when you look at it, you gotta say, ‘San Fran has gotten better.’ … I'm expecting a really different game."

FOX Sports NFL Analyst Geoff Schwartz said Kansas City has an edge in multiple matchups.

"If San Francisco decides to pass the ball, the Niners could run into some issues, as Kansas City's pass defense could take over the game" Schwartz said. "Also, the Chiefs defensive line will have an advantage over every 49ers offensive lineman not named Trent Williams.

"Ultimately, the Chiefs have too many advantages, and you can still get them at plus money to win the game outright. Mahomes to win MVP, +200 at some books, is also worth a wager.
