Andrew Hammond strikes Hamburglar gold with new mask

Senators' netminding sensation Andrew Hammond took the NHL by storm last spring, helping the Senators to the playoffs while assisting in a boost in hamburger sales in the Ottawa area. The goalie known as "the Hamburglar" is staying true to his fast food roots with his goalie mask design for the coming season, as he debuted the masterpiece on Twitter Tuesday.

The mask features a depiction of the real Hamburglar -- the McDonald's character responsible for Hammond's nickname -- who takes on an intrepid look as he swings from a chain, and the mask also displays those trademark golden arches to help spell out "Hammy", Hammond's other nickname.

No word on whether Hammond stayed true to his promise to pay the artist in hamburgers, but after Hammond signed a three-year contract with the Senators in May, he can probably afford to dish up a better patty than the average fast food fare.
