Caitlin Clark scoring record odds: Lines on when, how record will be broken

Caitlin Clark of the Iowa Hawkeyes is on the verge of breaking the NCAA women's basketball career scoring record.

Kelsey Plum, a guard with the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces, holds the record with 3,527 points, set while playing for the University of Washington from 2013-17.

Clark, with 3,520 points, returns to action Thursday when the fourth-ranked Hawkeyes (22-3) play host to the Michigan Wolverines (16-9).

From a betting perspective, Iowa's hot start has the team tied for second on the title betting board with LSU at +800 to win it all.

But from a straight-up basketball fan perspective, Clark has been one of the most compelling storylines for the past two seasons. The 6-foot senior is averaging 32.1 points per game, best in the country. Her 8.3 assists per contest are also tops in women's college hoops.

It's a foregone conclusion Clark will break the record Thursday.

As the country watches Clark's march to the record book, she said she's focused on the Hawkeyes making a run at the NCAA Women's Tournament.

"I mean, it's not really on my mind right now," Clark said of breaking Plum's record. "I just think getting better and getting back home and playing in front of our fans and executing the way we know we can execute. I think it's important for this team."
