Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward insisted to reporters that he's focused on the upcoming season as he heads into the final campaign of his six-year contract.

"Obviously, it's no secret that I love playing here and this is where I want to be," the 31-year-old Saskatchewan native told the team's website. "Yeah, in a perfect world, it'd be great to have something done, but there's no pressure. Obviously, I need to prepare myself and go out there and have a great year, not only for myself, but for the Hurricanes. It's about the team first."

Ward, who signed his $37.8 million contract in 2009, posted a 22-24-5 mark with one shutout and a 2.40 goals-against average last season. He is expected to share netminding duties in 2015-16 with offseason acquisition Eddie Lack, who comes to Carolina via a trade with the Vancouver Canucks on June 27.

Ward won the 2006 Conn Smythe Trophy when the Hurricanes captured the Stanley Cup in 2006. He has a 246-191-58 record in 10 NHL seasons with the Hurricanes, who missed the playoffs in 2014-15 after finishing with a 30-41-11 mark.
