Should Halak have been pulled earlier?

Published Apr. 29, 2015 2:29 p.m. ET

The Islanders will have plenty of time to reflect on what went wrong in Game 7. One question being asked by fans is if head coach Jack Capuano waited too long to pull goaltender Jaroslav Halak at the end of the game.

The Islanders were trailing 2-1 late in the game, and were attempting to scramble desperately for a goal. Getting an offensive player on the ice for extra time certainly would have increased their odds of getting a goal, but had they mistakenly given one up, it would have surely put the game out of reach.

There is no way to know for sure what the right decision would have been, but unfortunately for Isles fans, there is little else to think about for there team besides what could have been.
