Vancouver goalie Ryan Miller set for return following 8-game absence

The Vancouver Canucks expect to have Ryan Miller back in the lineup when they take on the Washington Capitals Thursday. The goaltender missed eight games due to an injury initially reported as simple cramps, but it clearly turned into a bigger issue as the injury lingered longer than even Miller said he expected.

Miller has not played since he was pulled from a game on Dec. 20 against the Panthers. He is 10-11-6 for the Canucks this season with a .909 save percentage.

Canucks back-up Jacob Markstrom took over in Miller's absence and played well, going 5-2-1 over those eight games with a .927 save percentage. It looks like Miller will have to be at his best to keep Markstrom off his heels in the fight for the starting job.
