FOXSports.com's college football power rankings
OCT 07, 2013 11:15a ET
The Crimson Tide had a walkover this past week with Georgia State, and now they head to Lexington to take on a Kentucky team that battled South Carolina in Week 6.
2. Stanford Cardinal 5-0 --
Excellent win (and some good fortune) at home outlasting Washington. The Cardinal go on the road at ticked-off Utah, which gave UCLA all it had last Thursday night.
3. Oregon Ducks 5-0 --
I’m looking forward to seeing the Ducks' lightning strikes in person this week when they visit No. 17 Washington (No. 16 in AP poll) in Seattle.
4. Ohio State Buckeyes 6-0 --
The Buckeyes earned a hard-fought, come-from-behind win at No. 19 Northwestern, showing their toughness and grit. Are there any tests left before Michigan in the final week of the regular season?
5. Clemson Tigers 5-0 --
The Tigers made pulp out of Syracuse on the road last week, so score one for "Clemson Orange." Now there’s one more game -- against Boston College – to win before Florida State comes to town.
6. Georgia Bulldogs 4-1 --
Whew! QB Aaron Murray's weapons keep getting hurt, but he still wouldn't let the Bulldogs lose in OT at a now-frustrated Tennessee last week. Missouri is up next.
7. Oklahoma Sooners 5-0 --
In beating TCU, the Sooners got a better win than they will get credit for. The defense stepped up in a big way, and now it’s off to Dallas for the rivalry game with Texas.
8. Louisville Cardinals 5-0 --
Louisville finally gets a test with Rutgers on Thursday night, and QB Teddy Bridgewater gets the shiny lights on him for all to see -- and enjoy.
9. Texas A&M Aggies 4-1 --
The Aggies had a refreshing pause this week before a big road game in Week 7 against formerly ranked Ole Miss.
10. UCLA Bruins 4-0 --
These Bruins will battle! QB Brett Hundley threw for a TD, ran for a TD and caught a TD pass in the tough win at Utah. Cal is next up.
11. LSU Tigers 5-1 --
The Tigers showed their moxie by winning at Mississippi State after the difficult loss at Georgia. They get the Florida Gators at home this week.
12. Florida State Seminoles 5-0 +1
FSU and QB Jameis Winston jumped a formerly ranked Maryland team. Now the Seminoles get a week off before they trek to Clemson for the showdown.
13. South Carolina Gamecocks 4-1 -1
Everyone will talk about Jadeveon Clowney not playing, but I liked the way the Ol' Ball Coach handled it in his postgame press conference. After beating Kentucky last week, South Carolina goes to Arkansas this week.
14. Miami (FL) Hurricanes 5-0 --
Remember when people feared Georgia Tech's offense? Now, the fear is back when you face Miami. RB Duke Johnson is a player.
15. Baylor Bears 4-0 +3
As the Bears play more Big 12 games, I expect their ranking to shoot up -- especially if they keep dropping 70 points on everybody they play.
16. Michigan Wolverines 5-0 --
A very good win for the Wolverines over Minnesota. TE Devin Funchess had quite the day, and Michigan wants that to continue that this week at Penn State.
17. Washington Huskies 4-1 -2
A disputed ending in a very, very tough loss at Stanford, but now is no time to mope, Huskies. The hated Oregon Ducks will be in town Saturday.
18. Florida Gators 4-1 +1
The Gators are averaging 39 minutes of possession per game. They used it well in beating Arkansas and will need it on the road at LSU this week.
19. Northwestern Wildcats 4-1 -2
I hate dropping this team after such a tough loss at home to Ohio State. Now the Wildcats hit the road and will have to man up against Wisconsin's running attack.
20. Fresno State Bulldogs 5-0 --
The Bulldogs are in full control in the Mountain West right now. QB Derek Carr is playing at a very high level.
21. Texas Tech Red Raiders 5-0 --
The potentially serious injury to QB Baker Mayfield put a damper on the decisive win at Kansas. An angry Iowa State heads to Lubbock this week.
22. Northern Illinois Huskies 5-0 --
The Huskies got a very good win over Kent State. QB Jordan Lynch is the perfect combination of talent and leadership.
23. Notre Dame Fighting Irish 4-2 +3
Big, big win for Notre Dame in a neutral-site game against a talented Arizona State team. QB Tommy Rees is a mentally tough young man.
24. Auburn Tigers 4-1 --
The win over Washington State is looking better, and the Tigers just knocked Ole Miss out of the top 25. Auburn has a tune-up against Western Carolina this week before heading to Texas A&M.
25. Oklahoma State Cowboys 4-1 -2
The Cowboys earned a quality win over Kansas State, which is never easy. This open week comes at an excellent time.
