The Arizona State women's basketball team, up to No. 11 in this week's Associated Press poll, and struggling in-state rival Arizona, still looking for its first Pac-12 victory, meet twice this week in a double dose of Territorial Cup Series action.
ASU, following a pair of narrow victories over Oregon and Oregon State, has moved into second place in the Pac-12 behind third-ranked Stanford (21-1, 10-0 Pac-12). The Sun Devils have proven especially resilient in close games -- five of their last eight victories have been by three points or less, and a sixth victory was decided in overtime.
Meanwhile, Arizona has suffered five losses by four points or less.
The Sun Devils are ranked No. 9 in the NCAA's most recent RPI standings and need one more win to reach 20 for the 10th time since 2001. They are second in the Pac-12 in field-goal percentage (43.9) and third in scoring (75.3 points per game). They have won 18 of the last 20 games against the Wildcats.
Senior Deja Mann leads the Sun Devils' balanced scoring attack with an average of 11.9 points per game, but six other Sun Devils average at least 7.9 points per game.
The Wildcats, shooting just 39.4 percent for the season, have two players averaging more than 10 points per game: Guard Candice Warthen (12.0) and forward Kama Griffiths (10.1).
