Louisiana-Lafayette secures 80-66 win over Coastal Carolina in Sun Belt Conference Tournament
PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — Kobe Julien had 25 points and Louisiana-Lafayette beat Coastal Carolina 80-66 on Thursday night in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Louisiana-Lafayette (19-13) will play No. 4 seed Arkansas State on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
Julien also had five rebounds for the Ragin' Cajuns. Hosana Kitenge added 13 points while shooting 5 of 6 from the field and 3 for 3 from the line while he also had six rebounds. Kentrell Garnett went 4 of 8 from the field (3 for 7 from 3-point range) to finish with 11 points.
The Chanticleers (9-22) were led in scoring by Jacob Meyer, who finished with 22 points. Kylan Blackmon added 17 points for Coastal Carolina. Kevin Easley Jr. also had 14 points, 11 rebounds and two steals.
Louisiana-Lafayette took the lead with 14:22 remaining in the first half and did not relinquish it. The score was 42-29 at halftime, with Julien racking up 15 points. Julien scored a team-high 10 points in the second half as his team closed out the win.
