Free agent pitcher Mike O'Connor has been suspended 50 games following a positive test for metabolites of Trenbolone under baseball's minor league drug program.
Major League Baseball made the announcement Tuesday, saying the penalty will take effect when O'Connor signs with another big league club.
The 32-year-old left-hander was 0-1 with a 4.86 ERA in 13 relief outings this season for Triple-A Rochester in the Twins' organization. He was released by Minnesota on May 18.
O'Connor has made 35 major league appearances - including 21 starts - with the Washington Nationals and New York Mets, going 4-10 with a 5.30 ERA. His last stint in the majors came in 2011 with the Mets.
