Unbeaten in her MMA career, Carano (5-0, 2-0 EXC) last competed in September, when she submitted Tonya Evinger with a first-round rear naked choke at EliteXC "Uprising." Based out of Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts in Las Vegas, the 25-year-old has since starred in a resurrected version of "American Gladiators" on NBC. Her riveting bout with Julie Kedzie at EliteXC: Destiny in February 2007 helped put women's MMA on the map.
Young (4-1), meanwhile, burst on the scene at a Hook-N-Shoot event in November, when she reeled off three consecutive knockouts all in less than a minute to win an eight-woman tournament in Evansville, Ind.
The 22-year-old capped her tear through the draw with a 53-second finish of Patti Lee in the final. Based out of the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy the same camp former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk and reigning Bodog Fight welterweight titleholder Nick Thompson call home Young suffered her first career loss in February, when she submitted to a Sara Schneider armbar at a Tuff-N-Uff show.
