Unbeaten in her MMA career, Carano (5-0, 2-0 EXC) last competed in September, when she submitted Tonya Evinger with a first-round rear naked choke at EliteXC "Uprising." Based out of Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts in Las Vegas, the 25-year-old has since starred in a resurrected version of "American Gladiators" on NBC. Her riveting bout with Julie Kedzie at EliteXC: Destiny in February 2007 helped put women's MMA on the map.
Young (4-1), meanwhile, burst on the scene at a Hook-N-Shoot event in November, when she reeled off three consecutive knockouts — all in less than a minute — to win an eight-woman tournament in Evansville, Ind.
The 22-year-old capped her tear through the draw with a 53-second finish of Patti Lee in the final. Based out of the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy — the same camp former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk and reigning Bodog Fight welterweight titleholder Nick Thompson call home — Young suffered her first career loss in February, when she submitted to a Sara Schneider armbar at a Tuff-N-Uff show.
