King of the Cage veteran James Lee (13-3) has withdrawn from his scheduled Sept. 6 bout with Tim Boetsch (7-2) at UFC 88 and will be replaced by Mike Patt (11-2), who will be making his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut. The light heavyweight bout will be contested on the undercard of the UFC 88 in Atlanta, Ga.

Lee has reportedly sustained a tear in his bicep.

Following a lengthy run with ProElite's King of the Cage promotion, as well as an appearance for the now defunct Pride Fighting Championships, Lee made his UFC debut in January, losing to Alessio Sakara by first-round TKO. In PRIDE, Lee submitted Travis Wiuff in the round one.

Boetsch last competed at UFC Fight Night 13 in April, losing to "The Ultimate Fighter" alum Matt Hamill via second-round TKO, after taking the fight on eight weeks notice due to Stephan Bonnar getting injured and pulling out. In his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut at UFC 81, Boetsch defeated David Heath in convincing fashion, tossing his opponent head first into the cage before securing a first-round TKO win. Boetsch's only other loss occurred at the IFL: 2007 Semifinals, where he dropped a unanimous decision to Vladimir Matyushenko.

Patt, Lee's replacement, is a BodogFight veteran with only two career losses. At BodogFight: Costa Rica in February 2007, Patt dropped a unanimous decision to Canadian journeyman and TKO veteran Todd Gouwenberg. He rebounded at a Fight Time Productions event last November with a first-round submission over Adam Rodman. Boetsch will be Patt's first opponent in 10 months.

In a heavily stacked light heavyweight division, both Tim Boetsch and newcomer Mike Patt need a win in hopes of securing a future pay-per-view fight due to the depth in the organization's most competitive weight class.

Boetsch is fun to watch. Too bad he gassed out in Denver due to the thin air and short notice. He was handling Hamill until he turned completely red and started huffing and puffing.

Looks like he's got enough time to train this time. I hope he fights again like he did against David Heath. That was awesome.

Mike Patt of Team Gurgel? If so, hopefully he puts on a better fight at the UFC level then his friend/trainer Jorge.
