LOS ANGELES (AP)

Timothy Bradley remembers the first and final rounds of his last bout. The rest of that brawl has vanished into a foggy haze.

The unbeaten welterweight champion candidly acknowledges his brain took a beating in his victory over Ruslan Provodnikov. Bradley consciously abandoned years of technical discipline and waded into an inelegant fistfight with the Siberian brawler, determined to prove his ring bravery.

Bradley did it because he was criticized and threatened after his win over Manny Pacquiao last year in a decision few believed he deserved.

Bradley changed the boxing world's perception of him with his last win, but it left him with missing memories and two months of slurred speech.

He's determined to be smarter against Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday in their highly anticipated title fight.
