Mayweather goes off on Twitter

The war of words continued Tuesday between undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, as the champion labeled the duo "b*tches" for questioning his tactics during his Sept. 17 knockout victory.

De La Hoya, the former world champion who now runs Golden Boy Promotions, had demanded Ortiz be given a rematch after being knocked out by Mayweather in the fourth round on a punch that many observers considered a cheap shot.

"I left the fight in the ring but Oscar and Ortiz keep doing interviews crying like some Golden Girl b****es. I will f*** both of you up," Mayweather tweeted Tuesday. In an earlier tweet, Mayweather said he would not give "Victoria Ortiz" a rematch until he defeats Andre Berto again.

The controversial ending of the fight happened after Ortiz intentionally headbutted Mayweather along the ropes, prompting referee Joe Cortez to take a point away.

Cortez had signaled for the fight to resume as Ortiz continued to offer his apologies to Mayweather. When Ortiz turned to look at Cortez with his hands at his sides, Mayweather struck with a quick combination, knocking out the 24-year-old.

Though the punches were legal, many saw them as unsportsmanlike, since Ortiz had his head turned toward Cortez, apparently not knowing he had restarted the fight.

MAYWEATHER KOs ORTIZ

De La Hoya took to Twitter over the weekend to argue that Mayweather should grant Ortiz a rematch because it was unclear who was going to win the fight before the extraordinary events of the fourth round.

"Watched the Ortiz fight again and I have to say Ortiz was coming on. it was only the 4th round and Ortiz was letting his hands go," said De La Hoya, who was defeated by Mayweather in 2007. He labeled Mayweather's knockout punch as a "cheap shot."

"You cannot tell who's going to win just by seeing 4 rounds especially when u have a young strong puncher like victor in front of you. i'm just still fired up because of victor being young and strong and was in amazing shape and was hungry to win."
