Coppin State Notes, Quotes
by Sports Xchange
--Not many people know who G Vincent Goldsberry is, but through two seasons he's played in all but one game. Goldsberry averaged 7.1 points per game last year. His uncle, Dexter Boney, played for UNLV and the Los Angeles Lakers.
--Rebounding is always a chief concern of the savvy veteran Mitchell, and it should be a cause for worry this season. Coppin State finished 2008-09 with a 6.8 rebounding margin, among the worst in the league and Division I basketball.
LAST YEAR: 13-19, 9-7; Lost in MEAC semifinals.
HEAD COACH: Fang Mitchell (371-321); 24th year at school (371-321).
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Losing Tywain McKee is a big one, but I have to create a situation where we're going to be competitive in the MEAC with the players that we have. I think we're capable of competing. I'm looking forward to a challenging year ahead. When you have a situation where you lost the players that we lost the past year, it's very challenging to piece something together that will be successful. But I'm just really looking forward to it." -- Coach Fang Mitchell
