Four players with state ties are among 50 players on the Naismith Trophy preseason watch list.

Oklahoma State guard James Anderson, Oklahoma guard Willie Warren, Tulsa center Jerome Jordan and Kansas guard Xavier Henry are candidates for the Atlanta Tipoff Club's college basketball Player of the Year. The winner will be announced during the Final Four next March in Indianapolis.

Anderson averaged 18.2 points last season for OSU; Warren was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year last season; Jordan is a 7-footer who led TU with 8.6 rebounds per game; and Henry, a former Putnam City High star, is a true freshman who is expected to play a big role for preseason No. 1-ranked Kansas.

Big 12 SOCCER

Oklahoma closes its soccer season tonight with a Big 12 game against Baylor in Norman. Game time is 7 at John Crain Field. OU (7-10-1 overall, 2-7-0 Big 12) failed to qualify for the Big 12 Championships scheduled next week in San Antonio. ...

Goalkeepers AD Franch and Keely Kippenberger combined for Oklahoma State's league-leading 11th shutout of the season Thursday as the Cowgirls beat Utah 3-0 in Stillwater. Franch played the first 73 minutes and made two saves. Kippenberger kept the Utes off the board late in the game, knocking a shot over the crossbar. OSU plays Wednesday in the Big 12 Championships.
