LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari added another top recruit, signing 6-foot-5 small forward Stacey Poole Jr. on Wednesday during the beginning of the fall signing period.

Poole averaged 17.3 points as a junior last year for Providence High in Jacksonville. Poole is the son of former Florida Gators star Stacey Poole, who still ranks fourth on the school's all-time scoring list.

"What other program is bigger?" the elder Poole told the Lexington Herald-Leader recently. "Younger guys have seen Kentucky when they've been down the last couple years. You'd think Carolina, Duke and Kansas (were the best programs). I told him, if you know what I know, there's no better program. No better place to play."

Poole is rated the fourth-best small forward in the Class of 2010 by Rivals.com.

Calipari said Poole will play multiple positions with the Wildcats.

No. 16 Ohio St. 72, James Madison 44: Evan Turner followed up a triple double with 24 points and 17 rebounds Thursday as the host Buckeyes (2-0) advanced to meet North Caro?lina in the 2K Sports Classic semifinals next Thursday.

Duke: Freshman and projected frontcourt starter Mason Plumlee is out indefinitely after breaking his wrist at practice. Now two projected starters won't play tonight when Duke opens its season against North Carolina-Greensboro. Guard Nolan Smith must sit two games for playing in an unsanctioned summer league.

Northwestern: Forward Kevin Coble, the team's leading scorer and rebounder last season who landed awkwardly on his left foot in practice Tuesday and was still seeking a definitive diagnosis, may miss the first month of the season, ESPN.com reported.

Eyeing 1,000: McKendree University coach Harry Statham, 72, goes for career victory No. 1,000 tonight at home against East-West University. Statham, who has been at the NAIA school east of St. Louis since 1966 (999-381), is poised to become the first men's coach at a four-year college to hit the milestone. The only present member of the 1,000-win club is Tennessee women's coach Pat Summitt.

Women: Stanford landed the nation's consensus top recruit in forward Chiney Ogwumike, the younger sister of Cardinal sophomore Nnemkadi Ogwumike.
