The Memphis Tigers are the last of the unbeaten Division I basketball teams in the NCAA ranks and are ranked No. 1 in the country. So there should be no mystery as to what team heads this edition of the Frankhoops.com mock NCAA tournament bracket. That leaves only 64 other teams jockeying for a position.

Don't let anyone tell you that putting together a 65-team NCAA tournament bracket on a Friday morning/afternoon is anything short of a frustrating exercise.

I've got to get a copy of that NCAA software that automatically spits out the distance in miles from each school and all eight first- and second-round sites.

As I'm sure someone will point out very rapidly, I've assigned top-four seeds to sites that are not as geographically friendly as they should have been to students and family members wishing to follow their teams along the paths of March Madness.

Anyway, coach John Calipari's Memphis team is my No. 1 overall seed (shocking, absolutely shocking), and was assigned to the South Regional, with Duke 2 (East), Tennessee 3 (Midwest) and Kansas 4 (West).

I probably leaned a little too much toward the "how have they played lately" as opposed to "evaluating the entire body of work" on some of my other seed lines. And I've swapped some teams (no more than one seed line, per the NCAA Championship Committee guidelines).

Projecting ahead in this mythical bracket, the South and West winners would meet in one Final Four semifinal in San Antonio on April 5, with the Midwest and East hooking up in the other.

The Big East and Pacific-10 conferences have seven representatives in this bracket, with the Southeastern and Big 12 bagging six apiece, the Big Ten five and the Atlantic Coast Conference four.

Fire up!
