Is it just me or are there three teams with #2 seeds in the tourney ranked LOWER than the #3 seeded Badgers in the latest Top 25 poll? Win the regular season title and the Big Ten tourney but we are still going to give teams that lost their last game (Duke,G-Town) and the team that you beat on their home court(Texas) a better seed in the tourney!! Sounds fair to me!!

boilersromp..if you feel that Purdue was slighted in their seeding, you need to get a grip and look at what the selection committee was looking at:

1) an RPI around 45
2) losses in 3 of their last 6 games
3) five losses to teams not in the tournament--Ohio State, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa State and the kicker---Wofford

All you that somehow think that the Pac10 is soft somehow...i can't wait for my team to play your team..and watch Kevin Love squash your team for 20 boards...all the broadcasters have been saying all year is how the Conference is the Best in college basketball...get a clue

I just read an article on that other sports network where they compared results against other tournament teams. UCLA has the most wins at 14-2 followed by UNC at 9-1. But they failed to mentioned that UCLA fattened their record by beating all those loser Pac-10 teams that the selection committee gifted into the tournament.

If the Pac-10 was held to the same standards as other conferences UCLA and UNC would be about even b/c VaTech would be in (giving UNC two more wins) and Oregon and Zona would be out (giving UCLA 4 fewer wins). Both conferences would have 5 representatives. It's so typical of online writers that have nothing better to do to come up with meaningless analysis like this.

Seeding Oregon(18-13) over ASU(20-12), and Kentucky (18-12) over Mississippi(21-10), is just like Seeding Michigan State(4th Big-Ten) in front of Purdue(2nd Big-Ten) and Indiana(3rd Big-Ten), and Notre Dame and UCONN in front of PITTsburgh.

holland you make a great point..stanford and ucla in my final 4....and yes you could win it all..stanford that is....great squad and we were blessed to beat them a couple of times ..will be another great pac10 game with the winner winning it all

I was wondering what the Winthrop/WSU line was .... thought maybe WSU -4... -5.5.... nope 8.5!.... that is a crazy number... If Winthrop scores 47 they will cover the 8.5... so...... can they score 23 in the first and 24 in the second?...lol... maybe not... but will WSU?.. maybe not... I do not see either team getting 60...... so, if the winner WSU wins and scores 59 will Winthrop get 51?...lol... looks like an easy play..really hard to see WSU covering giving up 8.5...

Arizona has more starting 5 talent than every team in the country except NC, Memphis, Ucla..... Zero bench and not much size....If they do get by WV which is no lock they match up great with a small Duke team .... watch out...And Wash St versus Winthrop.... watch this one for the upset... Although I don't think any team beating the cougys would be upsetting them.. The cougys play a team just like itself that has been dancing for 4 straight years and won games... They play d and have little offense... xerox of WSU... coin flip here... could be in the 40's... I like Winthrop on a money line bet to make a ton of money... They get up by 7+ and it is over... Don't worry about the PAC 10.. Stanford is a better tourney team than UCLA in that it plays better defense and can score from a set offense easier with the Lopez twins... UCLA and Stanford could easily make the final... Wait until the nation sees the pick and roll from the Lopez twins...unstoppable...

BobbyBilly - point well taken on the showdown. I don't know about you and meadowland, but I have the Heels going all the way. However, Kansas scares me a little. They play similar to Carolina only on a high dosage of caffeine. Go Heels.

meadowland

way to go getting a bracket in. i trust you have the heels going all the way.

The first round game I hate the most: Gonzaga vs Davidson. These are my favorite two mid-major teams and I so badly wanted both of them to advance past the first round. I hope which ever one wins does well in the second round. An improbably upset of G-town would be really sweet for either program. I'm not a G-town hater, really respect them, just love these two mid-majors.

Goheels,

grrat suggestion on the ACC/Pac-10 showdown. I'm not sure either league would go for it though.

The ACC wouldn't like it due to the heavy travel required and the difficulty of scheduling all the west coast games so that they fall into prime time on the east coast (maximizes the TV revenue stream).

The Pac-10 wouldn't like it because they would end up with Big 10 type results, typically 2-8 vs ACC. The Pac-10 gets their RPI and SOS numbers in a cyclical fashion by playing each other. Stepping out of conference and giving most of their teams an ACC loss in December negatively affects both RPI (but only a little) and the polls (a lot).

Believe me, the Pac-10 doesn't want an ACC/Pac-10 challenge and no ACC team wants their RPI to drop b/c they were forced to play Oregon State.

The Pac is well represented this year, almost. Az?!?! I dont understand, unless they just put em there to embarass the league. The only Pac 10 to go out in round 1. Heck the Huskies would fair better against WV...

Let's have a PAC 10 / ACC showdown. We are tired of whooping up on the Big 10 every year. Need someone new.

hgalassi- oh yeah we are preparing for pacification.
3/18/2008 12:58:00 PM(Report inappropriate content)
I'm from WSU , we'll go to sweet sixteen. UCLA will win. Other pac 10 teams to look for Stanford will go to final four. But with 6 teams in the pac 10 will be on the nations T.V.'s almost everyday so everyone can see what the strongest confrence this year looks like.
hgalassi3/18/2008 12:11:00 PM(Report inappropriate content)
I agree, the pac-10 gets no credit. 6 teams, more than half of the confrence. Prepare for a Pacification.
hgalassi3/18/2008 12:08:00 PM(Report inappropriate content)
alot of pac 10 bashing in here..too all of you..you might not want to play any pac10 team in the tourny...you will not go any further..there is a reason the pac 10 has 6 teams they are all alot better than most of you think they are...but then again most of you are probably from the east coast and did not bother to watch the west and their better brand of basketball
