Less than a week after firing George Pfeifer after two years at the helm, Idaho is expected to announce Utah State associate head coach Don Verlin as his successor on Monday night.

According to sources close to the situation, a news conference is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday.

Verlin, 42, has been with Utah State coach Stew Morrill for the past 15 seasons — including 10 with the Aggies.

Pfeifer was 12-48 in two seasons.
