Hudson to declare for draft, won't hire agent
The 6-foot-3 Hudson, who averaged 25.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists in his first season in the Division I ranks, is hoping to get an invite to the Orlando Pre-Draft camp.
"All indications are that he'll be invited to Orlando," Campbell said. "That's where everyone wants to see him and see how he stacks up."
Hudson, who sat out last season at Tennessee-Martin after transferring in from a junior college, scored 35 points and had 10 rebounds in a season-opening loss to Memphis. He proved it wasn't as fluke when he went for 27 points and 11 rebounds against Mississippi State and 36 points, nine rebounds and six assists against Vanderbilt.
FOXSports.com spoke to a pair of NBA executives. One had Hudson projected as a late first-round pick and the other said Hudson is still a likely second-round selection, but that could change with a strong showing in Orlando.
"If he's going to be a first-round pick, he's got to do it," Campbell said. "I told him that I'd help him pack his bags."
Campbell said Hudson made a major improvement in his perimeter shot in the season he sat out.
"He's a complete player," Campbell said. "He makes people better and a lot of times you don't see that in scorers."
