Oregon State has gone across the country and hired Brown coach Craig Robinson as its next coach.

According to sources, the Beavers chose Robinson over IUPUI coach Ron Hunter — just days after the school was spurned by San Diego's Bill Grier.

Robinson, who is the brother-in-law of presidential candidate Barack Obama, led Brown to an 19-10 mark and an 11-3 Ivy League record this past season, his second with the school.

Robinson spent six years as an assistant at Northwestern before taking over at Brown.

Robinson replaces Jay John, who was fired midway through the season. The Beavers finished without a victory in Pac-10 play last season.
