UMass coach Travis Ford has reached an agreement in principle to become the next coach at Oklahoma State.

UMass SID Jason Yellin has confirmed the move and the school will hold a 7:30 p.m. ET press conference to discuss its newly available head coach position.

According to sources close to the situation, Cowboys athletic director Mike Holder met with Ford earlier in the week.

Holder also met with Southern Illinois' Chris Lowery on Tuesday. Lowery withdrew from consideration later on Tuesday night.

Ford, 38, was a candidate at both LSU and Providence. He received interest from LSU prior to a new athletic director coming on board with the Tigers and then spurned an offer from nearby Providence.

UMass was 25-11 this past season and Ford has led the program to a 62-35 mark in his three seasons at the helm — including a berth in the NIT championship game this season.

Ford will take over for Sean Sutton, who was 39-29 in his two seasons since replacing his father, legendary coach Eddie Sutton.
