Don't make the mistake of trying to put two and two together for Larry Brown, because it doesn't necessarily add up to four.

Just because the veteran 67-year-old coach resigned as the Philadelphia 76ers executive vice president on Thursday does not mean that he's headed to Palo Alto as Stanford's next head coach.

In fact, a source close to the situation told FOXSports.com that Brown spurned interest from Stanford earlier today.

Now Stanford athletic director Bob Bowlsby will have to go in a different direction — and the hope is that it'll be done by the middle of next week.
