Grambling hires Duckett as new head coach
Grambling State has hired former South Carolina assistant Rick Duckett.
Duckett, 50, has spent the past seven years under Dave Odom at South Carolina. He was also the head coach at Winston Salem State for three years, where he won two CIAA championships and compiled a 73-19 record.
"I'm excited about this opportunity," Duckett told FOXSports.com. "Sometimes you get to a place and need a challenge."
"This is a unique situation," he added. "Grambling has such a great reputation in football back to the days of Eddie Robinson. The culture needs to be changed with regards to basketball."
Duckett, was also the head coach at Fayetteville State from 1994-98. He replaces Larry Wright, who was fired on April 1 after nine seasons and an 88-161 mark.
