FINAL RECORD: 17-15, 9-7, tied for 5th in the Atlantic 10.

WHAT WENT RIGHT: Nivins had another incredible year for the Hawks. At the end of the regular season, he was tied with Temple guard Dionte Christmas for the league lead in scoring. He led the league in rebounding and field goal percentage. He scored in double-digits for 41 consecutive games and finished his career as the third all-time leading scorer in school history.

WHAT WENT WRONG: It's hard to pinpoint exactly what happened to the Hawks after they started conference play 7-1 and looked like they would contend for an A-10 title. Though Hawks coach Phil Martelli maintains that his players didn't wear down at the end of the season, St. Joseph's didn't have much of a bench. Nivins averaged 39.3 minutes per game and three other starters averaged at least 34 minutes. Outside of the starting five, only two players averaged more than 10 minutes and neither more than 13.

The Hawks lost seven of their last 10 games with victories only against league bottom feeders Fordham and Charlotte and a young St. Bonaventure squad.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I think at the end of the year, unless you've have a room full of guys you don't want to be around, or guys who have been resistant to teaching and team building and that kind of thing, then what I think you do is you say, OK, it's over. But with this particular group and with a guy like Ahmad, you hurt. You become selfish because you want to have him for one more day because he's been such a pleasure to deal with." -- St. Joseph's coach Phil Martelli to the Philadelphia Enquirer.
