Tobias leads UC women past Central State

Ali Tobias went 6-for-10 for 14 points, with eight rebounds and three assists to lead the visiting University of Charleston women's basketball team over Central State 75-56 Thursday night.

Lindsey Kentner was 4-for-5 and 2-for-2 at the line to add 11 points to the Golden Eagles (2-1) total. Natashal Galloway led Central State with eight points.

WVU BASKETBALL: West Virginia University basketball coach Bob Huggins' weekly talk show on the MetroNews Radio Network will air live from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Charleston Marriot Town Center.

The public is invited to be a part of the live studio audience. Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation to benefit the Mountain Mission.

Huggins will discuss the Mountaineers' Tuesday contest against Delaware State at the Civic Center. For more information, contact Joe Stevens at (304) 720-5466.

MU BASKETBALL: The Marshall women's team will play host to the Fifth Third MU Classic, running today through Saturday at the Henderson Center. The Herd will open the tournament against Tennessee State at 7 tonight.

WVU CROSS COUNTRY: West Virginia's Sean Cleary was named the Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Associations.

ALL-STAR SOCCER: The annual North-South All-Star soccer matches will be held Saturday and Sunday at Fairmont's East-West Stadium. First up is the Class AA-A boys game at 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by the Class AAA boys at 3 p.m. The Class AA-A girls match is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, followed by the Class AAA girls at 3 p.m.

MU VOLLEYBALL: Marshall senior middle hitter Jalicia Ross and sophomore setter Elizabeth Fleming garnered Conference USA honors. Ross, the nation's eighth best attacker (.414 hitting efficiency), was selected to the All-C-USA first team as voted upon by the conference coaches, and Fleming earned a spot on the C-USA All-Academic squad.
