Fall season ends, hoops season begins

Time for another edition of "Across Campus ." If you know any former area high school stars playing college sports not listed, please let the Daily News know.

Cross Country

* Former Bear Jacob Wiklund is a senior at Eastern New Mexico University. Wiklund finished 125th in a time of 37 minutes, 4 seconds at the Division II South Central Regional meet, a 10K course.

Wiklund's college career ended with that race.

* Former Tiger Corey De La Cruz is a redshirt freshman for Adams State College. De La Cruz did not compete in the Central Region Championships.

The Grizzlies head to the Division II National Championships on Saturday.

Football

* Former Tiger Ace Huff is a senior offensive lineman at Hamline University. The Pipers finished 2-8, 1-7 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Huff started nine games at right guard and had one tackle. His college career has ended.

* Former Tiger C.J. Oakley is a redshirt freshman running back at Colorado State University-Pueblo. The Thunderwolves finished 4-6, 3-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Oakley played in two games and caught one pass for a 10-yard touchdown.

* Former Tiger Tim Rogers is a redshirt freshman offensive lineman for the New Mexico Highland Cowboys. The Cowboys finished 3-8, 3-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Rogers played in 11 games and started nine at left tackle or center. He recorded one tackle.

* Former Tiger Jeff Thorton is a junior running back for the New Mexico Highland Cowboys. Thorton played in three games.

* Former Tiger Terrence Lowe is a redshirt freshman tailback for the Washburn University Ichabods. The Ichabods finished 6-5, 4-5 in the Mid-America Intecollegiate Athletics Association.

Lowe played in 10 games. He rushed for 206 yards on 56 carries and scored three touchdowns. He caught four passes for 56 yards and had five kick returns for 93 yards.

* Former Bear John Ryan Saulietis is a redshirt junior offensive lineman for New Mexico State University. The Aggies are 3-6, 1-4 in the Western Athletic Conference .

Saulietis has played in six games.

The Aggies host Louisiana Tech today.

* Former Bear A.J. Shaw is a freshman wide receiver for Midland Lutheran College. The Warriors finished 6-5, 5-5 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Shaw did not play in any games.

Soccer

* Former Lady Tiger Christina Veasley is a freshman midfielder/forward for the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. The Trojans finished 8-11-2, 4-6-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.

Veasley played in 21 games, with 17 starts. She had two goals and two assists, with 28 shots and 14 shots on goal.

Basketball

* Former Tiger Will Bynum is a junior guard at Montana State University. The Bobcats are 1-1 after an 85-82 overtime victory at the University of Colorado.

In the game, Bynum started and scored five points. He grabbed one rebound, and dished out one assist.

For the season, Bynum has started both games and has 18 points (9.0 ppg), five rebounds (2.5 rpg), two assists (1.0 apg) and one steal (0.5 spg). He is 7-of-14 from the field (.500), 0-of-2 from 3-point range and 4-of-7 from the free throw line (.571).

The Bobcats play at Boise State Monday.

* Former Tiger Chancellor Weisensel is a junior post at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The Blugold played Ohio Wesleyan Friday in the Wheaton Tip-Off Tournament and play today.

* Former Tiger Matt Peeler is a freshman center at Otero Junior College. The Rattlers are 5-3.

Season statistics were unavailable as of press time.

Otero Junior College played North Platte College in the x tournament Friday in La Junta. The Rattlers play Colby today.

* Former Lady Tiger Fallon Thomas is a senior guard at Houston Baptist University. The Huskies are 1-2 after a 68-60 loss at Northwestern University.

In the game, Thomas started and scored seven points. She grabbed five rebounds, dished out four assists and snagged four steals.

For the season, Thomas has started three games and has 28 points (9.3 ppg), 22 rebounds (7.3 rpg), 11 assists (3.7 apg), 14 steals (4.7 spg) and four blocks (1.3 bpg). She is 12-of-60 from the field (.600) and 4-of-11 from 3-point range (.364).

The Huskies host Wiley University today.

* Former Lady Tiger Katelyn Wilson is a junior forward at Park College. The Pirates are 1-7.

For the season, Wilson has played in seven games and has 10 points (1.4 ppg), seven rebounds (1.0 rpg) and four steals (0.5 spg). She is 4-of-14 from the field (.286) and 2-of-4 from the free throw line (.500).

The Pirates play at Missouri Baptist today.

* Former Lady Tiger Ashley Jelly is a freshman guard at Otero Junior College. The Rattlers are 6-3.

Season statistics were unavailable as of press time.

Otero Junior College is at the Air Force Academy Prep Tournament all weekend.
