Boston College will have another chance to slay a giant this week.

No. 4 Wake Forest, which climbed to 14-0 with a 92-89 victory over No. 3 North Carolina in Winston-Salem, N.C., last night, will visit The Heights Wednesday night.

The 17th-ranked Eagles (13-4, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference ) are 0-2 since stunning then-No. 1 North Carolina Jan. 4.

Jeff Teague scored a career-high 34 points and Chas McFarland matched a season high with 20 points for the Demon Deacons, who won their ACC opener to remain one of three unbeaten teams in Division 1 and match the 1980-81 Wake Forest team that also won its first 14 games.

A year ago, the Eagles beat Wake Forest to kill the buzz of its upset of then-No. 2 Duke.

"Guys are more mature now, grown up," Teague said. "We understand that what we did was a big win, but we've got to move forward."

Danny Green scored 22 points for the Tar Heels (14-2, 0-2). Tyler Hansbrough added 17 points but was 3 of 12 from the floor and went without a field goal in the second half.

"It seems like teams are playing me more physical and trying to push me outside," Hansbrough said. "But it's on me to get inside and get my position."

In a span of eight days, the once-unanimous No. 1 team in the nation has lost two of three and shares last place in the ACC with Georgia Tech.

The Tar Heels lost their first two league games for the first time since 1996-97, when they started 0-3.

North Carolina has been hampered by the absence of top defender Marcus Ginyard, who missed his second straight game and has been slow to recover from offseason foot surgery.

Wake Forest led for most of the second half, but the Tar Heels made things interesting late by twice closing within 3 in the final minute.

After Will Graves's 3-pointer made it 91-89 with 4.7 seconds left, Teague knocked down a free throw with 3.3 seconds remaining to end the scoring.

Graves's desperation heave from halfcourt hit off the backboard and sent the tie-dye-clad Screamin' Demons student section onto the court to celebrate Wake Forest's most significant victory since the Chris Paul-led team - also ranked No. 4 - knocked off the then-No. 3 Tar Heels four years ago.

Teague finished 9 of 17 from the field, hit three of four 3-pointers, and was 13 of 15 from the free throw line. During one second-half stretch, Teague slashed his way through the lane for layups on three consecutive possessions.

"I told Jeff Teague that was about as good a performance as I've seen in a long time against a team that I'm coaching," said North Carolina coach Roy Williams.

BU 68, UNH 37 - John Holland scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds, helping the Terriers end a five-game losing streak with a rout of the Wildcats at Case Gymnasium.

Scott Brittain scored a season-high 15 points and Jake O'Brien and Corey Lowe each added 10 points for BU (6-8, 1-1 America East ), which beat UNH for the 15th straight time at home.

The Terriers never trailed and led, 63-27, with 7:52 remaining en route to their their seventh straight victory in a conference home opener.

Holland registered his second straight 25-point game for BU, which played its second game after losing guards Tyler Morris and Carlos Strong for the season with knee injuries.

The Wildcats (5-8, 1-1) were 2 for 33 from 3-point range, and 14 for 58 from the floor.

Two years ago, UNH scored just 29 points at Case Gymnasium

Alvin Abreu led UNH with 8 points.

Albany 82, Vermont 77 - Anthony Raffa and Will Harris combined for 42 points to lead the visiting Great Danes (10-6, 2-1 America East ) over the Catamounts (9-6, 0-2).

Raffa scored 14 of his team-high 22 points in the second half while Harris had 15 of his 20 in the first. Harris also accounted for nine of Albany's 39 rebounds.

Vermont's Colin McIntosh had 25 points on 12-of-17 shooting and Mike Trimboli added 21. McIntosh also added five rebounds.

The Great Danes trailed, 39-34, early in the second half before unleashing an 18-5 run over a six-minute stretch to grab a 52-44 lead with 11:28 left.

Pittsburgh 90, St. John's 67 - DeJuan Blair scored 23 points with 18 rebounds and Jermaine Dixon added 17 points as the host Panthers, playing for the first time as the nation's top-ranked hoop team, ran away from the Red Storm in the second half.

Leading by just 5 points at halftime, Pitt (15-0, 3-0 Big East ) clamped down on defense and found its shooting range, knocking down three 3-pointers in a 17-4 spurt in the first seven minutes of the second half. By the time Blair came out for a rest with 8:47 left, the Panthers were up by 23 and putting on a show.

Levance Fields had 13 points and nine assists for the Panthers, who forced 24 turnovers, shot 58 percent after halftime, and after shaking off some rustiness from an eight-day layoff, looked worthy of their newfound status as college basketball's team du jour.

D.J. Kennedy, who won a Pennsylvania state high school title as Blair's teammate, scored 18 for the Red Storm (10-5, 1-2), who didn't have enough to withstand Pitt's second-half blitz.

UCLA 64, Southern Cal 60 - The 10th-ranked Bruins (13-2, 3-0 Pac - 10 ) received 18 points from Darren Collison in a victory over the host Trojans (10-5, 1-2).

Purdue 65, Wisconsin 52 - Robbie Hummel, who missed Purdue's previous game, a loss to Penn State, with back spasms, returned to score 11 of his 16 points in the second half as the No. 14 Boilermakers (12-4, 1-2 Big Ten ) beat the visiting Badgers (12-4, 3-1).

Xavier 86, Fordham 60 - B.J. Raymond scored 18 points as the 16th-ranked Musketeers (13-2, 2-0 Atlantic 10 ) beat the Rams (2-12, 0-2) in New York.

Minnesota 79, Penn State 59 - Devron Bostick scored 19 points to lead the 22d-ranked Gophers (15-1, 3-1 Big Ten ) past the visiting Nittany Lions (13-4, 2-2).
