COLUMBIA - South Carolina standout hurdler Jason Richardson will miss this weekend's NCAA Indoor championships because of a hamstring injury.

Gamecocks coach Curtis Frye said Tuesday Richardson has withdrawn from the 60-meter hurdles event. Richardson, a senior, owns the country's fastest time in the event since his 7.58 second-run in January. He missed most of the indoor season, resting a sore left hamstring. Richardson returned to the track two weeks ago, winning the SEC Indoor title in the event.

Frye said Richardson doesn't want to aggravate the injury with the outdoor season ahead. Richardson won the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA championships last spring.
