Louisville assistant coach Richard Pitino is headed to Gainesville to join Billy Donovan's staff at Florida.

According to sources close to the situation, Pitino — the son of Louisville coach Rick Pitino — will leave his father's program.

The elder Pitino coached Donovan back at Providence.

An official announcement could come as early as Monday.

Pitino, 26, was an assistant coach at Duquesne for three seasons and has spent the last two years working for his father at Louisville.

In the two seasons at Louisville, Pitino has signed a pair of Top 100 players in the Class of 2009 in Peyton Siva (No. 54) and Rakeem Buckles (No. 48) as well as 2010 commit Justin Martin and Ryan Taylor and Michael Chandler in 2011.
