MEN'S HOOPS TO PLAY UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA LOS ANGELES, GONZAGA IN 2009-10
by US Fed News
2. The Gonzaga game also could be the last game CSUB will play before becoming NCAA Division I Tournament eligible the following season. "Next year will be our last with no NCAA Tournament eligibility, so getting secure games against competition of this caliber will give us a taste of play at that level," says head Coach Keith Brown. "We're especially happy to provide those opportunities to our seniors who helped build the foundation of NCAA Division I basketball in Bakersfield yet won't get to experience a season with the potential of postseason play." The 'Runners expect to open the season at home the previous week before making the trip to Pauley Pavilion to face UCLA. They will close the season with a trip to the state of Washington, where they will play Seattle University in addition to Gonzaga. "The game at Gonzaga will be a fitting end to our final season of transition," says Brown. "We can't go to the tournament, but it should have the feel of a five seed playing a 12 seed and will give our players and fans a chance for that one signature win to close out the season." Of course, the 'Runners still have some big games left in the 2008-09 season. CSUB begins a three-game road trip at Big West Conference favorite Cal State Northridge Thursday night. They will play at SMU Saturday afternoon and then travel to Palo Alto for a big game against Stanford Tuesday, Feb. 10. The 'Runners return home to host Seattle Feb. 16.For more information please contact: Sarabjit Jagirdar, Email:- htsyndication@hindustantimes.com
