Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart boys basketball coach Keisha Brown was named the new Alma College women's basketball coach Wednesday, succeeding Charlie Goffnett.

Brown, who played for Tulane University, has compiled a 114-30 record in six seasons as the Irish boys basketball coach, including five league titles, four district championships and three regional titles. Her 2006 team finished as the Class D state runnerup.

Brown, a member of the Tulane Athletic Hall of Fame, played professionally in Finland, averaging 23 points and 15 rebounds a game during two seasons.

Brown has also worked as a counselor and athletic director at Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart.

Goffnett, who retired after the 2008-09 season, was 334-217 in 22 seasons at Alma, including three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association titles, five NCAA Tournament appearances and the 1992 NCAA Division III national championship. The Scots were 9-16 last season.
