Holy Cross has hired Notre Dame associate head coach Sean Kearney.

According to sources, Holy Cross athletic director Dick Regan informed Kearney on Thursday morning. Pittsburgh associate Tom Herrion and Holy Cross alum Rod Baker were the other finalists.

An official announcement is expected on Friday.

Kearney, 49, has spent the past nine years as the associate head coach at Notre Dame under Mike Brey. Kearney has ties to Holy Cross; his father spent his freshman season at the school before serving military duty.

Kearney replaces Ralph Willard — who resigned to join his best friend, Rick Pitino, on the Louisville staff.
