SEAN COLEMAN NAMED TO CONFERENCE-USA MEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Houston, March 6 -- The University of Houston issued the following news release:

University of Houston junior forward Sean Coleman was named to the 2009 Conference USA Men's Basketball All-Academic Team on Friday. Coleman, who holds a 3.33 grade-point average in sociology, has competed in 17 games this season, garnering starts against Georgia Southern and Iowa State. He tallied a career-high six points against Mississippi Valley State and again against Alcorn State.

The Houston native also pulled down a career-high three rebounds on three occasions this season, most recently against Conference USA-rival UCF. Coleman joined Tulsa's Steven Idlett and Sam Mitchell, Rice's Aleks Perka and Adam Williams of Marshall on the All-Academic Team. Coleman also became the Cougars' first academic honoree since Bryan Shelton was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for the third straight season in 2004. NEXT GAME FOR Houston Coleman and his Cougar teammates wrap up the regular season at 7 p.m., Saturday, against Conference USA-rival SMU inside Hofheinz Pavilion on the UH campus. Center Marcus Cousin and guard DaShaun Williams will be honored in pregame ceremonies as part of Senior Day. Fans can hear the game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action and Willis Wilson providing analysis.
