Houston, March 5 -- The University of Houston issued the following news release:

University of Houston junior guard Aubrey Coleman earned his first postseason honor Thursday when he was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 11 First Team. With a team-high 19.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, Coleman is the only player in Conference USA to rank among the league's top-four leaders in both scoring and rebounding. A native of Houston and a product of Marshall High, Coleman leads UH with 11 double-doubles this season after scoring 19 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds in Wednesday's loss to No. 5/3 Memphis inside Hofheinz Pavilion.

This season, Coleman has recorded 13 games with at least 20 points and posted three games with 30 points, including a career-high 38 points at Conference USA-rival Marshall on Feb. 18. He became only the 16th player in school history to score at least 30 points three times in a single season. In addition to his scoring, he has proven to have a nose for the ball on both ends of the floor. He ranks among the league's top-nine leaders in both offensive and defensive rebounding and tops all players in C-USA with 2.52 steals per game. Coleman was twice named C-USA Player of the Week and earned C-USA Rookie of the Week honors five times this season. He was one of 10 Conference USA players named to NABC All-District teams. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the honorees represent the finest basketball players across the country. The honorees, from 24 districts which were realigned this season, are now eligible for the State Farm Coaches' Division I All-America teams to be announced April 4 at Hoop City in Detroit's COBO Center as part of the 2009 NABC Convention. Other All-District First-Team honorees from C-USA were Memphis' Robert Dozier and Tyreke Evans, Tulsa's Jerome Jordan and Jermaine Taylor of UCF. UAB's Paul Delaney III and Robert Vaden, Memphis' Antonio Anderson, Tulsa's Ben Uzoh and Stefon Jackson were named to the Second Team.
