Houston, March 9 -- The University of Houston issued the following news release:

University of Houston junior guards Aubrey Coleman and Kelvin Lewis were named to All-Conference USA Teams, as selected by the league's 12 head coaches and members of the media. Playing his first season with the Cougars, Coleman was named to the All-Conference USA First Team, while Lewis earned a place on the Third Team. With a team-high 19.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, Coleman is the only player in Conference USA to rank among the league's top-four leaders in both scoring and rebounding.

A native of Houston and a product of Marshall High, Coleman leads UH with 12 double-doubles this season after scoring 22 second-half points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds in Saturday's win against Conference USA-rival SMU inside Hofheinz Pavilion. This season, Coleman has recorded 14 games with at least 20 points and posted three games with 30 points, including a career-high 38 points at Conference USA-rival Marshall on Feb. 18. He became only the 16th player in school history to score at least 30 points three times in a single season. In addition to his scoring, he has proven to have a nose for the ball on both ends of the floor. He ranks among the league's top-six leaders in both offensive and defensive rebounding and tops all players in C-USA with 2.46 steals per game. Coleman was twice named C-USA Player of the Week and earned C-USA Rookie of the Week honors five times this season. He recently was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 11 First Team. Coleman was joined on the First Team by Memphis' Tyreke Evans, UTEP's Stefon Jackson, Tulsa's Jerome Jordan and UCF's Jermaine Taylor. Lewis has been a steady leader for the Cougars on both ends of the floor and is the only player to start all 29 games to date this season. The Fort Worth native ranks second on the Cougars and fourth in the league with 18.0 points per game and ranks among the national leaders in 3-pointers per game and free throw percentage. He scored a career-high 35 points with nine 3-pointers at perennial power Arizona earlier this season and helped lead the Cougars to their first win against UTEP in El Paso by hitting 17-of-18 free throws, setting a Don Haskins Center record for a Miner opponent. Although known for his offense, Lewis also is regularly called upon to defend Cougar opponents' leading backcourt performer. He limited UAB's Robert Vaden - the 2009 C-USA Preseason Player of the Year - to only 10 points on 3-of-13 shooting and held Rice's Rodney Foster to only five points in 24 minutes. Lewis was joined on the Third Team by UTEP's Randy Culpepper, Marshall's Markel Humphrey, UAB's Lawrence Kinnard and Southern Miss' Jeremy Wise. Coleman and Lewis make Houston the only team in the league to have two of the top-four scorers. For more information please contact: Sarabjit Jagirdar, Email:- htsyndication@hindustantimes.com
