Junior guard Aubrey Coleman scored a career-high 35 points and added a team-high nine rebounds, but it would not be enough as No. 18/19 Memphis claimed an 83-68 win over the University of Houston men's basketball team Saturday afternoon inside FedEx Forum. Returning to the Cougar lineup following a one-game suspension, Coleman connected on 11-of-28 attempts from the field - including a pair of 3-pointers - and all but one of 12 attempts from the free throw line to tie the UH season high. The Houston native played all 40 minutes and added two assists and a pair of steals. Hitting six of its first eight shots which included three 3-pointers, Memphis jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the game's first four minutes and appeared ready to cruise to the win. However, the Cougars chipped away at the deficit, pulling to within 29-28 late in the first half, and trailed by only five points by the halftime break.

Following the break, the Cougars emerged from the locker room to hit back-to-back 3-point attempts and grabbed a 44-43 lead on Coleman's trey at the 19:01 mark. But Memphis used a 23-8 run during the next seven minutes to grab the lead for good and claim their eighth straight win against the Cougars. With the loss, Houston fell to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in C-USA play. Memphis improved to 17-3 overall and 7-0 in C-USA games. Memphis forward Robert Dozier was one of five Tigers to score in double digits, leading the team with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Doneal Mack added 18 points with five 3-pointers, while guard Antonio Anderson finished with 16 points. Forward Shawn Taggart posted 11 points, while guard Tyreke Evans added 10 points. UP NEXT FOR Houston The Cougars return to action at 6 p.m. (CST), Wednesday, when they meet Conference USA-rival UCF in Orlando.
