WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO CENTRAL MICHIGAN

MINUCE, Ind., Feb. 19 -- Ball State University issued the following news release:

Coverage of The Ball State Game: WERK 104.9 Jay Garrison. WCRD (91.3 FM) Brad Whitlock, Jordan Kerkhoff. Scouting Ball State: The Cardinals closed out Mid-American Conference East Division play Saturday against Ohio after posting an 80-72 victory over the Bobcats.

It was also Think Pink weekend. Five Cardinals scored in double figures with junior forward Danielle Gratton leading the way with 19. Sophomore forward Emily Maggert chipped in 15 points while teammate junior guard Audrey McDonald netted 14. Senior guard Porchia Green ended the day with 13 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Senior guard Kiley Jarrett ended the day with 11 points. At the half the Cardinals had knocked down eight three-pointers with McDonald having four of the eight. Ball State's 44-point showing in the first half is the highest the Cardinals have scored in a first half all season. Ball State has now won 10-straight conference games at home dating back to last season. The Cardinals (17-8, 9-2 MAC) have sole possession of the MAC West Division and will face Central Michigan Sunday at Rose Arena. Scouting Central Michigan: The Chippewas fell 94-79 to MAC East Division leader Bowling Green Sunday, Feb. 15 in Anderson Arena. BGSU remains the only undefeated team in the MAC. The Chippewas Shonda Long scored 21 points in the contest. Long was 9-of-16 from the the field which included five from behind the arc. Britni Houghton had a 24 point performance for CMU off of 8-of-17 shooting and Angel Chan chipped in 16 for CMU. The Chippewas are now 14-11 overall and 6-5 in the MAC. Both CMU and BSU had a bi-week this week. As conference play comes to an end CMU is currently in fourth play in the MAC West Division and fifth overall. Series History: This is the 58th meeting between the two school's with Central Michigan leading the all-time series record 29-28. The Cardinals are 9-18 at CMU. Ball State has won the five meetings over Central Michigan. BSU won 81-69 at Rose Arena last season.
