Team Report
Can Michigan can declare its 2008-09 season a success? Well, in John Beilein's second year at the helm, the Wolverines earned their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998. That sounds like a good thing. As the South regional's No. 10 seed, Michiga...

GO BLUE is going to be changed back to "GoBlue the beast of the Big Ten again" or was that Football? Oh well, I expect to see both RR & John to make us M fans proud to be part of this great history of winners. The BB program last season was a refreshing thing for us. GoBlue..

Well, in the way to early preseason top 25 posted in the link above, Michigan is at #19 in the country. It seems that they are back on the radar.

dragon_fighter,

I agree. The Wolverines would be in the mid to high 30's with their current recruiting class I think. The Scout.com team rankings end at the #25 spot with a 3.0 rating. The Wolverines have one four star recruit and three recruits at three stars. That would put them at very near that 3.00 rating by Scout.com as well.

The success of the team should help them and they should be able to sneak into that top 25 next recruiting season. Michigan is an attractive destination for college athletes.

We have a good class coming in 2010, But Michigan will need to break the TOP 25 in recruiting at least to get us further into the tourney...I guess that will come as we do get deeper into the sweet16 and beyond.

Goodman has picked Michigan as the #23 team in the country in his way too early 2009-2010 preseason rankings.

minerson,
I have respect for any fan that can converse with respect and dignity towards other fans. If every WV fan that existed wanted to come and talk on UM's board, that would be fine, as long as they can do it with respect toward all things. It is sad that some fans act that way, and I know they are not the rule. Every school has fans like that, including UM.
Our rivaly w/OSU is that of a mutual respect, with a little bit of hatred towards the institution, not the coaches, players, or fans. Perhaps we will one day have that same rivalry with WV. But it seems right now it is more of a hatred towards the players, fans, and coaches, and not the institution in general.
I always knock WV for hiring the Stewart, but understand that I have nothing against him, the players, or the respectful fans such as yourself.

Good luck in football this year... I think our win/loss records will be very close to eachothers.

If you haven't read it, there is a good article on Mlive about the future of Michigan basketball.

www.mlive.com/wolverines/basketball/inde...

Well if it ever does happen tufflynx at least you and I will enjoy and respect it. I have enjoyed talking to you and reading your comments along with some others here. And jb I know some of those WV fans come on you guys boards and show themselves. I just want to say that I don't think I have ever seen you come onto any WV site and trash talk. I can appreciate that. I hope someday this thing is all behind us and we both are enjoying successful programs. Be talkin' to ya. Good luck guys.

minerson,

If WVU and Michigan played for the NC in a couple years I cannot think of a better (or scarier) matchup. The press would love it. The fans would go nuts, and the craziness would be off the charts.

Spring practice for football began last Saturday the 13th. The Spring game is in April 13th I believe. It's time to look forward to football!

Wolves put up a fight this weekend, i'm Proud of them!

maybe they can get some drivers and a few big men?

GO BLUE !

John Beilein has what it takes to coach a team to a NC. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. One to two years and a Final Four just may be a reality. Maybe a WV/UM matchup? Lord have mercy.

The Wolverines current recruiting class is:

Matt Vogrich, 6'3" 185lbs, Shooting Guard

Darius Morris, 6'3" 165lbs, Point Guard

Jordan Morgan, 6'8" 240lbs, Center/Power Forward

Blake McLimans, 6'10" 210lbs, Center/Power Forward

Michigan has a good recruiting class coming and it does include a couple of well regarded "bigs". So they will be moving in the right direction. The NCAA tournament bid will help them get even better players for the next recruiting class.

Yes, this season and tournament performance will help in getting recruits. I just hope these new recruits will have the same heart and determination of these guys. When does football practice begin?

Great season boys. One of the best coaching jobs ever. This undersized squad with limited talent beat some of the big boys. Hopefully Beilein has a dominant center and a power forward in his recruiting class. He's got enough guards to start 2 good teams.

In most games there are at least 20 plays that could be called a charge, blocking foul or no call. It seemed like 95% of those calls went to Oklahoma.

Well guys you had a good year. That was a good game yesterday. Next year will be even better.

minersonminerson

wow, that was the most lopsided, pathetic officiating i have ever seen. Worse than the loss at Iowa. From not calling moving picks, to calling charges when a D man was still running beside the offensive player, to a offensive player dribbling the ball off his own foot, and giving it back to them when it went out of bounds. Pathetic. It was obvious in the first minute of the game who the refs wanted to win.

Oh well, great year, and an unexpected surprise at the end. I have a feeling the football team will be the same way.
