NASCAR pulled Michael Waltrip off the track for aggressive driving at Talladega Superspeedway.

Waltrip was warned to give Jimmie Johnson space during yesterday's final practice session as he bump-drafted behind Johnson's car. When Waltrip didn't let up, he was black-flagged for the final 30 minutes of practice.

* NASCAR will allow double-file restarts in its truck series in 2010, part of a series of modifications coming to the circuit next year.

Teams will be able to add fuel and change tires on the same pit stop, and teams will be able to have a maximum of six crew members in the pits during the race, up from five this year. NASCAR will also allow teams to use spec engines at tracks shorter than 1.25 miles in length.

* Dover Motorsports Inc. is ceasing operations at Memphis Motorsports Park after a deal to sell the track to another investor fell through.

The three-quarter-mile track has played host to NASCAR Nationwide and truck series events for the past decade. The truck series event will move to Nashville Superspeedway in April and the Nationwide race will move to Gateway International Raceway outside St. Louis in October.

* Lance McGrew had the interim tag removed from his crew chief title by Hendrick Motorsports and will remain with Dale Earnhardt Jr. next season.

\ SEC will levy fines, suspensions on coaches who criticize officials

After three Southeastern Conference coaches in two weeks received reprimands for criticizing officials, the conference decided that future punishment for similar antics will be fines and suspensions.

A memorandum was sent by the league office to every school making them aware of the change, which is effective immediately.

Commissioner Mike Slive was given full discretion by the league's athletic directors and presidents to hand out the punishment. He will determine the amount of fines and lengths of suspensions on a case-by-case basis.

* B.J. Daniels threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns and South Florida rebounded from two subpar defensive performances to frustrate No. 20 West Virginia (6-2, 2-1) 30-19 in a Big East game in Tampa, Fla.

The Bulls (6-2, 2-2) allowed 75 points and 887 yards in losses to Cincinnati and Pittsburgh the previous two weeks. \
