Dover's Ty Long led host Plymouth State to a 24-7 win over MIT yesterday in a New England College Football Conference game at Currier Field.

Long, a freshman back, rushed 17 times for 127 yards and a touchdown. His effort helped the Panthers improve to 7-2 overall, 5-1 NEFC.

Long opened the scoring. His 51-yard romp on PSU's first possession gave the hosts a lead they never relinquished.

The Panthers eventually held a 21-0 halftime advantage.

Steve Campbell followed up Long's run with a four yard score midway through the first quarter. Alex Smith latched onto J.J. Brooks 28-yard scoring pass halfway through the second stanza.

PSU got a third quarter, 27-yard field goal from Christian Mulcahy.

Brooks (Seabrook) rushed for 62 yards, and completed his only two passes for 29 yards. Smith caught both Brooks passes.

The Panthers defense was paced by Hampton Falls' Harry Fallon (1 interception, 4 tackles), Alex Battagliano (9 tackles, 6 solo), and Zach Parsons (7 tackles, 5 solo).

PSU completes its regular season Saturday at Salve Regina. Kickoff in Newport, R.I., is noon.
