? Junior quarterback T. J. Salopek (Irwin/Norwin) rushed for two touchdowns and threw for 312 yards to help Allegheny erase a 14-point deficit for a 24-21 comeback victory over Wooster. Linebacker Andy Schleihauf (Connellsville/Connellsville) made 10 stops and free safety C.J. Bell (Belle Vernon/Belle Vernon) added seven.
? Reigning NCAA Division II 165-pound champion Josh Shields (Burrell) started the 2009-10 season, defeating Maryland's Josh Apor, 3-1, to take home another title in Mercyhurst's first competition of the season at the Buffalo Open. The junior went 4-0 in the tournament.
? Pitt's wrestling team had a successful debut at the Buffalo Open. The teams most impressive title came in the heavyweight division as redshirt junior Ryan Tomei (Irwin/Penn-Trafford) earned his fifth career tournament win, setting the pace with three straight bonus-point wins to open the day.
? California University of Pennsylvania sophomore defender Mike Kalas (Irwin/Norwin) was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II men's soccer team.
? Washington & Jefferson senior midfielder Molly Macioce (Laurel Highlands) netted the game-winning goal to lift the women's soccer team to a double overtime victory at Thomas More in Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.
? Allegheny's Caitlin Solan (Acme/Geibel) had 11 kills, 12 digs and three blocks in a victory over Denison.
? Sophomore Jessica Zavatchen (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands) recorded 34 assists and 11 digs to help Bethany post wins over La Roche and Grove City.
