The Eagles knew the task in front of them: win the last three games, win the Atlantic Division. Win the division and go to a second straight ACC title game. They would have to beat all three teams in front of them to get there, two of them on the road.
Last week, was a 27-17 victory at No. 20 Florida State, one that got the Eagles up to No. 26 in the Top 25. This week, it's on to Wake Forest, where the Eagles have been installed as 1 1/2-point underdogs.
"I'm pleased with where we're at," BC coach Jeff Jagodzinski said Sunday, after his team made the early morning flight from Tallahassee after the program's second straight win there. "I told the guys last night, if you're playing for something in November, you're doing some good things."
The FSU win was the seventh of the year for the Eagles, which also clinched a 10th straight bowl trip. There was a chance that, at 6-6, BC could have been left out.
They held the ball for over 38 minutes at Florida State, in an effort that looked like the old BC smash-mouth attack. The Eagles are playing without a fullback after James McCluskey was lost for the season with a broken leg. Most of the sets in the game were with of the single-back variety.
Another thing worth mentioning: BC has scored a non-offensive touchdown each of the last five games, including last week's 87-yard interception return by ACC defensive back of the week Marcellus Bowman.
