I think they should change the name of the Motor City Bowl to the "Lemon Bowl"
After all, Detriot is the biggest producer of lemons in the US

I think the Rose bowl should be changed to #1 seed SEC and #1 seed Pac-10. Lets face it...the Big 10 has fallen off. Until the midwest can compete with the coastal states for recruiting, they will continue to play slow power running football. Seems like Soul food and Mexican food are the remedies for speed not corn!!! I believe the BCS Championship would have been much better with UF vs. USC. Chokelahoma can now be considered along with OSU as the new BCS flops. UF, I commend you on your victory. Bob Stoops...I think you should take a job with the Buffalo Bills staff. It seems you know quite a bit about losing championships. Lol!!! Lets hope the BCS rankings get it right and put the Trojans in that #2 spot when the dust settles. It really irks me each year to hear the haters say how poor the pac 10 is each year, when our bowl performance showed otherwise. For the last 3 years, USC has had the same record as each of the BCS opponents but has been bypassed by the voters and sent to the Rose bowl. Next year we will be at the Rose bowl again. But next year the Rose bowl is the NC!!! So take that achilles...the arrow of Paris is about to strike and the men of Troy will triumph. 6 BCS victories...the most in college football!!! Need I say more???

Trusolo12---how can you spout that drivel when the PAC 10 was 6-1 vs the Mountain West.By what you just said USC shouldn't have gotten a Rose Bowl berth because they lost to Oregon State who lost to Penn State...so USC's win against penn state couldn't have happened since if a team beats the team you lost to, they'd beat you. So your logic there is shot by your own conference and it's own record against a small conference. All your drivel is just that....instead of trying to back what you are trying to say by using examples that discredit yourself just say this...My team sucked so I have to state our conference champion is the best team in the nation, though, since during the regular season (that decides which bowls teams deserve to go to) my team's conference was dominated by a smaller conference, I have to get on USC's band wagon and say it deserves the NC because my team sure don't, but this way I can lay partial claim to it by supporting the best team in my teams conference. Face it...you have no leg to stand on because your team doesn't enter into this anywhere and the conference crap is just that. I'm a Gator fan, first, foremost and my only concern about the SEC is how they make my team look..I want every SEC team to be 12-1 except my Gators..who I want to be 13-0, get the picture. The SEC has given me as Gator fan a lot of heartache and chest thumping concerning my team over the years...but based on only what my team has done. Next year this year won't matter, just as, to me the SEC's lifetime championships and bowls doesn't matter. My Team winning or losing is what matters...period and I will never fall back on my team's conference being the supposed best when my team falls. There are 4 teams that deserve consideration for the NC right now based on their performance, not that of their conference. Utah, USC, UF, and Texas. The only way to settle the disputes would be 3 more games. Not gonna happen. In my personal opinion Utah should be number 1, USC 2, UF 3, Texas 4. Utah champions because they did what no one else could against quality opponents..be undefeated. No other team had that amount of focus and the way they dismantled Alabama proves that. Usc number 2 over my Gators? Great defense provides for more wins and quality then offenses. The team with the most points win and that is mainly accomplished by your team stopping the other team from scoring. USC by far has the best defense in the nation and even with all our offensive weapons (which USC also has), I think their defense would hold up better then ours in a head to head. Gators 3...why simple Texas has not seen a defense like UF's and would be given the same treatment as OU, though the game would be closer because Colt would see where he couldn't throw and run. We didn't have to worry about a dual threat QB playing OU like we would playing Texas. Texas at 4 because face it OU got in as media darlings. Every year the media has a darling it forces into the NC...and if Georgia hadn't of imploded it would of been them and Ohio State if they hadn't of lost 2 also. At least 1 NC team gets in every year on being a media darling, and even if they win it only did so because they wanted to prove they deserved it. LSU last year for example was chosen preseason by the media and made it with 2 losses. So enoiugh on that...besides I'm a USC fan because they totally dismantled Michigan when UF won their last championship helping prove UF deserved their shot.

I like all the conference talk...USC suffered this year because the PAC 10 had a poor showing against the MWC going a huge 1-6. USC was judged based on the perceived quality of their opponents. Now USC does usually play a great nonconference schedule and in this regard got a bad deal because of the rest of the conference. The Oregan state loss doesn't matter...it's an any given Saturday thing...because of various reasons undefeated teams will get rarer and rarer. You cannot do the that team played this team too comparison..if that worked then Penn State should have beaten USC. Conferences have up and down years (wanna bet if the NCAA does the right thing by there rules USC will lose a couple of championships because of Reggi Bush's greed and lack of oversight by USC.) Fact is anyone who starts the conference rooting only does so because their team usually performed subpar. There is no way to decide short of a play off the true NC...and even then there would be controversy's..like two conference schools with a conference championship...when a 7-5 team wins one conference division and beats an undefeated team that won the other division (it can and will eventually happen). Then you have a 12-1 team getting snubbed for a 8-5 team...or you'll have the problems the Big 12 had with 3 deserving south champions. Until the conferences align wwith seeded championship games....then a play -off can't happen....and wouldn't because of the loss of bowl revenue. People say use the bowls in the playoff system, but then you'd have colleges saying it's unfair..why should top-seeds not have homefield advantage?...and would 12 games really generate the revenue for the NCAA that the what 30 or so bowl games do? To do a play-off you'd have to take into account the financial revenue of the bowls and how to make it so a play-off format brings in as much if not more money and can produce a unanimous champion..almost impossible. So we are stuck with an "unfair" system. the bowl system can work...if done fairly. Automatic tie ins should be discarded. (Boise state lost to a great TCU by 1 point...both those teams deserved a shot over the orange bowl teams) And the system should allow for games to decide any remaining real controversy's. This year you have 4 teams saying they deserve the championship..easy enough 3 more games. You can't tell me with the way the NCAA has things set-up class time is so important...plus it would mean equal revenue, but then all the BCS games would have to be played on the same day or so to be fair. So with that you'd have 3 more games...Say Usc-Utah.....Uf-Texas...then the winners playing. That'd be 3 more games of revenue....and don't say that put us deep into the next year. Stop the long wait time...have bowls began right after the season ends and the bcs bowls played 2 weeks afterwards. that'd be approx. mid to 3 quarters through december. So a champion would be decided by january week 3 by the latest. hence you keep all the bowls and get a play-off of sorts....that requires only the best college teams period make the BCS bowl not just those from major conferences. Have every conference play a seeded championship game....so the best two teams are guarenteed to go to the game..and there ya go...the closest you'd get to a real championship game and keep the bowl finacial benefits going.

Well there is great news for Non - BCS teams who don't get automatic bid to a BCS game. It was on the news here in Utah tonight. Utah attorney gereal Mark Shurtleff will be investigating the BCS system and if he finds evidence of possible violation of federal antitrust laws he will file a suit against them. Im sure he will find what hes looking for too. BCS is going to get attacked

Cal, proof is in the games? FSU hammered Maryland, you lost to Maryland, UF hammered FSU at Tally. I think FU belongs. Talk to your conference commissioner and ask him to quit fighting a play-off

PAC 10 is better than the SEC THIS season. Big 12 is the best THIS season. SEC was last season (and maybe the last 2).

Things are cyclical folks. Show a little objective thought. Proof is in the records.

4 out of the 5 Pac 10 bowl games were against ranked opponents.AZ, Oregon & Oregon State all beat teams ranked higher than them. Let's face it USC was penalized for playing in a mis-characterized weak league.

I'm just an old southern boy so excuse me for being slow. But I'm having a little trouble seeing how the PAC-10 will be better than the SEC based on final polls.

Who cares about bowl games before New Years Eve. The WAC (oops) PAC 10 played 4 games before New Year Eve. How many ranked opponents did you play in those bowl games other than Penn State?
PEARST1/5/2009 12:28:00 PM(Report inappropriate content)
You'd have to say as long as Florida wins, by any margin, they will be unanimous #1.
1/5/2009 11:23:00 AM(Report inappropriate content)
Well, if we look at the final rankings at the end of the season, the Pac 10 is better than the Sec. Of course these are subjective rankings based on whether the voters can swallow their pre-season erroneous picks and look at CF objectively and realisticaly. Slim chance of that, to much ego and blatant favoritism involved. Fight On.
