SCOUTING THE OFFENSE: Sam Bradford completed 17-of-22 for 183 yards and two touchdowns against Tennessee-Chattanooga. Backup Joey Halzle was almost as good, completing 14-of-16 for 122 yards and one score, though he had one ball picked off. Running the ball, the Sooners are considerably deep. Last Saturday, DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown combined for 188 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries. It was a tandem wide receiver show, too, with Manny Johnson and Juaquin Iglesias combining on 13 catches for two scores and 193 yards. Both are four-year starters.

SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: It's not easy to grade the Sooners considering the caliber of opponent it demolished last week. OU gave up just two first downs and 30 yards against Tennessee-Chattanooga, but the numbers weren't as impressive to OU coach Bob Stoops as was the positioning and execution of the play in on the field, which he was impressed with. On an individual note, DE Auston English, who didn't begin preseason practices in full until game week, led the team with six tackles, seemingly proving he's the same old English, who conference media voted preseason defensive player of the year in the Big 12.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Anybody can be served. They're a really good football team. That's all we need to know. We need to play our best if we want to win." -- Bob Stoops, who bristled at the idea several first-week upsets did the Sooners a favor in the form of a lesson with a good Cincinnati team on the way to Norman.
