He will be inducted at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 8, 2009 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New Yok City and will be officially enshrined at the Hall in South Bend, Ind., in the summer of 2010.
A two-time unanimous All-American (1982-83), Hudson holds the NCAA records for most passes caught per game by a tight end (5.4), most career yards per game by a tight end (75.3) and most yards in a game by a tight end (259 vs. Utah).
His junior season, the tight end was the only unanimous All-WAC selection, also earning unanimous All-America status. As a senior, he teamed with Young to haul in an NCAA- record 44 catches and six touchdowns in an injury-shortened season.
Upon graduation he played two seasons in the USFL with the LA Express and one season in the NFL for the Seattle Seahawks.
The list of inductees also includes Notre Dame receiver Tim Brown, West Virginia quarterback Major Harris, Texas defensive tackle Steve McMichael, Ohio State linebacker Chris Spielman, Georgia Tech defensive end Pat Swilling and Nebraska defensive end Grant Wistrom.
Former UNLV coach John Robinson was among the two coaches announced for induction, along with former Syracuse coach Dick MacPherson.
