LA Sports & Entertainment Commission Names Top Football Legends for NFL 101/201 and Edward Roski, Jr. as Community Sportsman of the Year

The LA Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC) presents its 7thannual NFL 101/201- Get Ready for Some Football : An Intimate Evening with NFL Legends on Monday, July 13, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m . This is an officially sanctioned NFL event where guests can experience a once-in-a-lifetime evening, playing on the field at one of the most historic sites in football history, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

This year's NFL 101/201 will include a wide array of activitiesin the "Play like a Pro" experience on the field. "Play like a Pro"features a quarterback passing competition, an opportunity to catch passes from an NFL quarterback, a field goal kicking challenge, an NFL equipment demonstration, and locker room tours that include official uniform displays for all 32 NFL teams.

Majestic Realty Company Chairman and CEO Ed Roski, Jr. will be presented with the LASEC Community Sportsman of the Year Award . The awardwas established to honor an individual who continually contributes to our community. Roski will be recognized for his outstanding contributions to the LA Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC) in helping the Commission attract major sporting and entertainment events to Los Angeles that positively impact the local economy.

This year's panelists include Trent Dilfer, ESPN NFL analyst, former NFL quarterback with Tampa Bay, Baltimore (Super Bowl XXXV champions), Seattle, Cleveland and San Francisco; Warren Moon, former NFL quarterback with Houston, Minnesota, Seattle and Kansas City, and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame; Carson Palmer, current starting quarterback forCincinnatiand former Heisman Trophy winner from USC;and Joe Theismann , former NFL quarterback withWashington (Super Bowl XVII champions),former NFL Most Valuable Player, two-time Pro Bowler and member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

The panel also features NFL experts Peter King, Senior Writer forSports Illustrated, reporter forNBC's " Football Night in America" and a host forSirius NFL Radio; Andrea Kremer , reporter forNBC Sports (including "Sunday Night Football "), correspondent forHBO's "Real Sports" and event emcee; Mike Pereira, NFL Vice President of Officiating; and Amy Trask, Chief Executive for theOakland Raiders.

Participating and coaching the on-field activities are current players Nnamdi Asomugha, cornerback, Oakland Raiders; Justin Fargas, running back, Oakland Raiders ; Dashon Goldson, safety, San Francisco 49ers; Jordan Palmer, quarterback, Cincinnati Bengals; Shaun Phillips, linebacker, San Diego Chargers; Calvin Sweeney , former wide receiver, Pittsburgh Steelers and Michael Young , former wide receiver, Denver Broncos. Conducting theequipment demonstrationwill be Gordon Batty, equipment manager, Green Bay Packers.

Our community partners for NFL 101/201 are Mattel Children's Hospital and Special Olympics and some of their athletes will be participating in our "Play Like a Pro" competition on the field. The event, which includes a cocktail reception and a buffet dinner, will conclude with our panel discussion. For the first time, the panel will focus on the art of quarterbacking with our four legendary quarterbacks.

Sponsors and ticket buyers include men and women in the business, entertainment and sports industries, along with the media. Wolfgang Puck is the Presenting Sponsor for this year's event. Several levels of participation are available starting at $5,000 for a table of 10. Additionally, individual tickets are available for $500 each.

LASEC is the official organization for the City of Los Angeles to seek, host, promote, and retain major sporting entertainment events that positively impact the local economy by attracting visitors to the city, giving them a reason to stay longer and return more frequently.
