VAUGHN LESUMA, MATT MULLENNIX NAMED TO HAMPSHIRE HONOR SOCIETY

PULLMAN, Wash., April 29 -- Washington State University issued the following news release:

Washington State University's Vaughn Lesuma and Matt Mullennix were each named members of the 2009 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society, the organization announced recently. The Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions that maintained a 3.2 grade-point-average or better, and started or were significant contributors in their final year of eligibility. Honor Society members must also meet all NCAA -mandated progress towards degree requirements. Lesuma appeared in 11 of WSU's 13 games in 2008, starting 10 games at left tackle and once at left guard. After being granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA , Mullennix started each of WSU's 13 games, 12 at defensive end and one at defensive tackle. He accumulated a career-high 50 tackles on the season, including four tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks. There were 564 student-athletes from 266 schools honored in 2009, a 27-percent increase from the 2008 class. In its inaugural year in 2007, the Hampshire Honor Society honored more than 300 students from 195 schools.
