MUNCIE, Ind., Jan. 29 -- Ball State University issued the following news release:

Mark Naylor, who worked as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Ball State University football team in 2004 and 2005, has been named the school's director of football strength and conditioning, according to BSU head football coach Stan Parrish. Naylor took the position vacated by Aaron Wellman, who accepted a similar job at San Diego State University . "The weight room is a very important part of a collegiate football program," Parrish says.

"Coach Naylor will do a great job getting our guys ready to play each week and with his work with them in the offseason. A lot of our recent success has been due to our work in the weight room and we look forward to that continuing under Coach Naylor. He is a young guy with a lot of energy and following in the footsteps of Aaron Wellman, who did a tremendous job with this program." A certified strength and conditioning specialist since 2003, Naylor began his career as a volunteer assistant with the National Football League's Tampa Bay Buccaneers strength and conditioning staff in the summer of 2001. He then served an internship for the strength and conditioning staff at Michigan State in the summer of 2003. After earning his bachelor's degree from Missouri Southern in 2003, he became a graduate assistant strength coach at his alma mater for the 2003 season. He spent the 2004 and 2005 seasons at Ball State while earning his master's degree. Naylor spent the 2006 and 2007 seasons as an assistant for the NFL's Baltimore Ravens strength and conditioning staff. Naylor, who served as an assistant on the athletic administrative staff at North Texas last fall, is married to the former Melissa Obermann. The couple has one daughter, Macy, and is expecting a second child this summer. For more information please contact: Sarabjit Jagirdar, Email:- htsyndication@hindustantimes.com
